Crew Project

For the crew project I did backgrounds for a third year story called Leap and Cottongrass, a stop-motion animation with A3 backgrounds.
First I drew the outlines and checked that they were the right proportions that were needed for the set.

 I then coloured the backgrounds using watercolours and cut out the window shutters so that they could be manually opened during the stop motion.

Riveting - proof of concept shot

I made this to show that the style was able to be animated. Some of the sounds are slightly out of sync but I think it still works.

Ching Shih in Space - animatic

I made an animatic from the storyboard of the Ching Shih story. I drew all the frames separately on  Photoshop before putting them together. I also redrew the cosmic dragon which I think looks a lot better this way.
